Julie
Rufo,
Host and Producer
|
Julie Rufo was
the co-founder and moderator of the Alameda Public Affairs Forum
before she and Joseph Woodard started PERSPECTIVES.
She knows the power of public media, having worked
in production of industrial films and shows for some years in Los
Angeles, and then becoming a business manager in the entertainment
industry.
Born and bred in New York City, she is the daughter
of a writer and editor, Charles Lam Markmann, who authored "The
Noblest Cry," a history of the ACLU, among other works. She
inherited his passion for truth and justice, a passion that carried
her into battles against the Vietnam War, the Contras in Nicaragua
and Honduras, our proxy wars in Guatemala and El Salvador, our bogus
invasions of Grenada and Panama, and now the invasion and occupation
of Iraq.
Moving to Alameda to live near her son, a successful
energy conservation consultant, and father of her two grandchildren,
and her daughter who works in administration for the City of Novato
and is an active environmental advocate, Julie has happily found
a community of people who share her concerns and want to do something
about problems that we all face. With a background in social activism
that spans five decades, Julie now presents interviews on vital
local, national, and international issues that affect our lives. |
